Rotations and Night Call

Rotations

Residents have the opportunity to do elective rotations during their PGY-2 through PGY-4 years.  Residents complete a month of Sports Medicine with private practice family medicine and orthopaedic physicians who are the team physicians for the San Antonio Spurs NBA basketball team.  This rotation takes place at the nearby Texas Center for Athletes (www.smasatx.com).  Residents may also complete additional elective time at the Health Science Center: Orthotics and Prosthetics, Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine, Research, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Pediatrics and Pain Management.

Night Call

PM&R Rotations

PGY-2 & 3 residents participate in the night float call system. Other PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents take in house call one to two times per month. No PGY-1 residents will be on call in Rehabilitation Medicine (PM-R).

PGY-3 and PGY-4 residents provide back-up call assistance from home for the in house residents. Faculty are available by pager for on-call residents.

Non-PM&R Rotations

Call is determined by the primary service.
