Medical School: Rosalind Franklin University, School of Medicine and Science. Also received Masters in Biomedical Sciences.
Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy spending time with my awesome husband Bobby and my dog Bella. My hobbies include working out and dancing, but most of all, being around people I love. My professional interests include Sports Medicine, Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Migraine/Concussion Management, Regenerative Medicine, and Non-pharmacologic pain management.

Hometown: I grew up primarily in Boston, Massachusetts, as well as Alpine, Utah.

Hobbies/Interests: I am a big sports fan and my allegiances go back to my time in Boston (Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots). I enjoy spending my free time with my kids, trying to stay cool in any body of water whether it be the pools, beach, river, or lake, as well as playing the guitar and ukulele. My professional interests include sports/MSK, spine, ultrasound, and electrodiagnostics.

Hobbies/Interests: Traveling, mixed martial arts, and enjoying time with family and good friends. I’m interested in interventional pain management and MSK.

Orlando Pena, D.O.
Hometown: Born and raised in Santa Clarita, California, one hour away from the beach in the summer and one hour away from the mountains in the winter.
Undergrad: Master’s College in Santa Clarita studied Kinesiology/Pre-Physical Therapy while playing soccer my freshman year.
Medical School: Nova Southeastern University COM, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida – additional one year in a pre-doctoral fellowship in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
Hobbies/Interests: Outside of residency my interests include exploring nature (hiking, climbing, river rafting), playing soccer with friends, and building puzzles. I also happened to be a barista during my college years and continue to love coffee. My interests within the realm of PM&R include musculoskeletal medicine, ultrasound for both needle guidance and diagnostic application, sports medicine, and integrative health/alternative medicine.

Hobbies/Interests: Trail running with my husband, hiking with my dog, and learning to play the ukulele. Professionally, I am interested in Complementary Alternative Medicine, Osteopathic Manual Medicine, Non-pharmacologic pain management, and Sports Medicine.

Hometown: Born in Tehran, Iran. My younger years were spent moving back and forth between
Tehran and Southern California.

Hobbies/Interests: I love spending time with my husband and son, as well as DIY projects, basketball, football, exercising, nutrition and gluten-free baking. I can also be a bit obsessive about Peanuts, Super Mario Bros, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. My professional interests are in integrative medicine, and I would like to incorporate osteopathic manipulative treatments into a practice geared toward overall wellness.

Tyler Clark, M.D.
Hometown: Idaho Falls, Idaho, moved several times, then grew up in Spokane, Washington.

Hobbies/Interests: My passions include mountain biking, camping, playing sports, and snow skiing all with my amazing wife and beautiful kids. Within PM&R, I enjoy musculoskeletal medicine and traumatic brain injury as well as performing procedures and utilizing ultrasound whenever possible.

Hometown: Born and raised in beautiful St. George, Utah.

Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy playing and watching all sports, being outdoors, hanging out with my wife and 2 boys and eating delicious food. Professionally, I am interested in General Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, Pain Medicine and TBI.

Medical School: UT Health San Antonio, thrilled to stay here for residency
Hobbies/Interests: My favorite thing to do with my free time is to spend it with my family, friends and my adorable black Labrador Koa. I also enjoy yoga, Pilates, dancing, cooking, traveling, movies, being a foodie and going to the lake and beach as often as possible. After graduation I am interested in pursuing MSK and sports medicine.

Hobbies/Interests: My wife and I just had our first child, enjoy spending free time with my family and friends. Some of my hobbies include golfing, fishing, grilling, and going to the river. Professionally, I am interested in many aspects of rehabilitation medicine. After residency, I plan on pursuing an occupation in polytrauma with an outpatient MSK/EMG clinic.

Hometown: Born in Frankfurt, Germany, family moved with army until settling in Mississippi at beginning of high school
Undergrad: Winthrop University – soccer scholarship. Then attended University of Mississipi Medical Center’s doctorate of PT program.

Hobbies/Interests: Spending time with my fiancé who I met while in medical school, she is a pediatric resident at UTHSA. Professionally, I am interested, interventional pain management, and sports medicine. I hope to start a private practice that will offer non-pharmacological pain interventions as well as sports medicine treatments, sports nutrition and education for athletes and amateurs.

Colby Beal, D.O.

Hobbies/Interests: I have a wonderful family with a beautiful wife, two sons and two daughters. Most of my free time revolves around them, but I also love to golf, play the guitar, and wakeboard when I can.

Undergrad: As per my family’s tradition, I graduated from the Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Science.

Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy exercising, water-based activities, and trying new restaurants. My professional interests are broad and include interventional pain medicine, pediatric pain, and general physiatry.

Hometown: Raised in Gilbert, AZ until high school when I moved to Sandy, UT.
Undergrad: Utah Valley University – degree in biological sciences and chemistry. Earned a doctorate in Chiropractic at Palmer College in Davenport, Iowa and then moved back to Utah where I built my own practice in South Jordan. After practicing for two years and with a desire to add more to my clinical tool set I sold my practice and went to medical school.

Hobbies/Interests: I was very happy to match into Rehabilitation medicine here in San Antonio where I live with my wife and 5 kids. We love what the community has to offer in this “big city with a small-town feel”. Professionally I am most fulfilled by the one-on-one interaction and helping patients find functional solutions with a more conservative mindset to help reach their health goals.

Faheem Mahomed, M.D.
Hometown: Born in Dallas, Texas, my family is from South Africa.
Undergrad/Medical School: Attended 6-yr combined BA/MD program at University of Missouri – Kansas City School of medicine. Undergrad degree in Chemistry.
Hobbies/Interests: I love traveling and try to visit new places any chance I get, I love playing and watching soccer and basketball, chef in the making and huge foodie. My professional interests are Pediatric Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.

Hometown: Born in Angles City, Philippines, moved to the US when I was 2 where I was raised in Great Falls, MT.
Undergrad: University of Houston, majored in Human Nutrition and Foods.

Hobbies/Interests: Served as a Hospital Corpsman in the US Navy for 5 years prior to college. I am currently interested in Complementary and Integrative Medicine, brain injury, and sports medicine. My hobbies include being outdoors hiking, camping, being on the water, and traveling.

Jason Beckstrand, D.O.
Hometown: Bountiful, Utah

Hobbies/Interests: While my family (wife and two boys) are certainly my out-of-work world, my other hobbies include almost anything outdoors (especially mountain biking, snowboarding, and other mountain sports). I also love the automotive world, and have built/repaired/restored/raced a handful of classic and modern cars.

Ryder Connolly, M.D.
Hometown: Born and raised in the middle of the desert we call Arizona.

Medical School: UTHSCSA to live closer to my wife’s family. Sadly, my wife’s family moved away shortly thereafter but we liked San Antonio so much we decided to stay for residency!
Hobbies/Interests: I enjoy hiking and exploring the outdoors with my wife and son (born 2017), traveling (especially with credit card reward points), and all things NBA (it’s not easy being a Suns fan in San Antonio). I consider PM&R to be the best field in medicine and can’t wait to be a physiatrist one day.
